Forklift Training in Barnsley for Businesses
Steel City FLT Training delivers AITT-accredited forklift training for businesses in Barnsley and surrounding areas. All courses are provided on-site at your workplace, allowing employees to train using the equipment and working conditions they encounter as part of their normal duties. Our training helps businesses ensure their forklift operators work safely, efficiently and in line with recognised industry standards. Whether you need training for new staff, refresher courses for experienced operators or instructor training for internal trainers, we can provide professional forklift training delivered at your premises.
On-Site Forklift Training for Barnsley Employers
Many companies in Barnsley operate warehouses, engineering workshops, manufacturing sites or distribution facilities where forklift trucks are essential for moving goods and materials safely. Delivering training at your own workplace allows employees to practise in the environment where they actually operate forklift trucks every day. On-site training can also be a practical solution for employers. Staff do not need to travel to an external training centre, and courses can be scheduled around your organisation’s operational requirements. This makes it easier to organise training while keeping disruption to a minimum.
For businesses that rely on forklift trucks as part of their daily operation, on-site training is often the most convenient and efficient approach.
Who Our Courses Are Designed For?
Our forklift training is typically arranged by professionals responsible for staff training and workplace safety. This often includes:
• HR managers
• Operations managers
• Warehouse supervisors
• Health and safety managers
These roles are responsible for ensuring employees receive appropriate training and operate equipment safely. Our courses are designed to help organisations meet these responsibilities by providing structured and professionally delivered training.
Forklift Operator Training Courses
We offer a range of forklift operator courses that can be adapted depending on the experience level of the staff attending. Training options include:
• Novice operator training for employees who have little or no previous experience
• Experienced operator training for staff who have been operating forklift trucks but require formal certification
• Refresher training to update the skills of existing operators
Courses normally include both practical and theoretical elements. Operators learn how to handle forklift trucks correctly while also developing a clear understanding of safe working procedures and responsibilities.
The aim of the training is to ensure operators are able to perform their duties safely and confidently within their working environment.
Refresher and Conversion Training
Refresher training is an important part of maintaining high safety standards in workplaces where forklift trucks are used regularly. Even experienced operators can benefit from revisiting correct procedures and reinforcing safe working habits. Refresher courses can help employers ensure that staff continue to operate equipment safely and remain aware of best practice. Where businesses introduce different types of forklift trucks, we can also provide conversion training to allow operators to transition safely from one type of vehicle to another.
Forklift Instructor Training
Some organisations prefer to develop their own internal training capability. We provide forklift instructor training courses for experienced operators who wish to become instructors within their organisation.
Instructor training covers both technical knowledge and the skills required to deliver effective training to other employees. These courses are suitable for companies that want to train staff internally as well as for training providers who wish to expand their team of instructors.
Benefits of On-Site Forklift Training
On-site forklift training provides several advantages for employers. Training delivered at your own premises allows employees to learn using the same equipment and operating conditions they experience during normal work activities. This helps ensure the training is directly relevant to the tasks they perform each day. Organising training at your workplace also eliminates the need for staff to travel to an external training centre. Courses can be scheduled at times that fit around your organisation’s operations, helping to minimise disruption while still ensuring staff receive high-quality training. For many businesses in Barnsley, this approach provides a practical way to maintain safe forklift operations.

In addition to Barnsley, we provide forklift training for businesses throughout Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Wakefield and across the wider Yorkshire region.
