Forklift Training in Derby for Businesses
Steel City FLT Training provides AITT-accredited forklift training for businesses in Derby and surrounding areas. All courses are delivered on-site at your workplace, allowing employees to train using the equipment and environment they encounter every day. Our training ensures that forklift operators work safely, efficiently and in accordance with recognised industry standards. Whether your business needs training for new staff, refresher courses for experienced operators, or instructor training for internal trainers, we deliver professional forklift training directly at your premises.
On-Site Forklift Training for Derby Companies
Derby is home to a wide range of engineering, manufacturing, and logistics businesses where forklifts are essential for daily operations. Providing training at your own premises allows employees to practise operating forklifts in the environment where they actually work. This approach makes the training more practical and immediately relevant. On-site training also benefits employers by allowing courses to be scheduled around operational needs. Staff do not need to travel to an external training centre, reducing disruption and helping businesses maintain productivity while training is underway. For many Derby businesses, on-site forklift training offers the most effective and convenient way to maintain safe operations.
Who Our Training Is Designed For
Forklift training is typically arranged by individuals responsible for workforce development, operational efficiency and workplace safety. This often includes:
• HR managers
• Operations managers
• Warehouse supervisors
• Health and safety managers
These professionals are responsible for ensuring staff are competent to operate equipment safely and that businesses comply with legal and industry requirements. Our courses are designed to support these responsibilities while delivering practical skills that employees can apply immediately. We work with businesses across a range of sectors including manufacturing, distribution, and logistics operations.
Forklift Operator Training Courses
We offer a variety of forklift operator training courses suitable for staff at different experience levels. Courses can be tailored depending on employee skill levels and the type of forklifts used within your business. Training options include:
• Novice operator training for staff new to forklift operation
• Experienced operator training for employees who have practical experience but require recognised certification
• Refresher training to update and reinforce the skills of existing operators
Courses typically combine practical instruction with theory-based lessons. Operators gain hands-on experience using the forklift while learning about safe operating procedures, responsibilities, and industry guidance.
The aim is to ensure employees operate forklifts safely, confidently, and efficiently.
Refresher and Conversion Training
Even experienced operators benefit from refresher training to maintain high safety standards. Regularly reviewing correct procedures and reinforcing safe practices helps prevent accidents and ensures staff remain aware of safe operating techniques. Where businesses introduce new types of forklift trucks, we also provide conversion training, allowing operators to transition safely from one vehicle type to another.
Forklift Instructor Training
Some organisations choose to develop internal instructors to deliver forklift training in-house. We offer forklift instructor courses for experienced operators, teaching both technical knowledge and effective teaching techniques.
Instructor training equips staff to deliver safe, professional training internally, allowing businesses to maintain high standards while reducing reliance on external providers. These courses are suitable for companies wishing to manage internal training programmes, as well as training providers looking to expand their instructor team.
Benefits of On-Site Forklift Training
On-site forklift training offers several advantages for businesses:
• Employees train using the exact equipment and environment they work with every day
• Training can be scheduled around operational requirements to minimise disruption
• Staff gain confidence and competence while avoiding travel to external training centres
For many Derby businesses, on-site training provides an efficient way to maintain safe forklift operations while keeping productivity high.
